Resumen

OBJETIVO: determinar la tasa de neonatos pretérmino con peso ≤ de 1000 g mayores de 20 semanas de gestación, y la supervivencia al alta hospitalaria de neonatos ingresados a la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales.

MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: estudio descriptivo, longitudinal, retrospectivo efectuado en el Hospital Central Dr. Ignacio Morones Prieto, San Luis Potosí, SLP, que consistió en la revisión de expedientes del área de maternidad y la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales de pacientes atendidas de octubre 2014 a septiembre 2015. Se incluyeron los neonatos ≤1000 g admitidos en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales. 

RESULTADOS: de 5462 nacimientos, 74 (1.35 %) neonatos pretérmino pesaron ≤ 1000 g. De éstos, 31 fallecieron durante el trabajo de parto o al no recibir maniobras de reanimación por ser considerados no viables. Los 43 restantes ingresaron vivos a la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales, de éstos, 24 egresaron vivos, con tasa de 55.8% de supervivencia.

CONCLUSIONES: en nuestro hospital, tanto la incidencia de prematuros ≤1000 g, como la supervivencia de los que ingresan a unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales es similar a la reportada en la bibliografía mundial en los últimos años.

Abstract 

METHODS: Descriptive, retrospective, longitudinal study. We reviewed medical records of the Maternity Unit and the Intensive Neonatal Care Unit from October 2014 to September 2015. We included newborns of ≤1000g who were admitted to the Intensive Neonatal Care Unit.

RESULTS: Of 5462 births, 74 (1.35%) were preterm newborns of ≤1000g. Thirty one of them died during labor or did not received neonatal resuscitation care due to the non viability consideration. The remaining 43 were admitted to the Intensive Neonatal Care Unit, 24 of them were discharged alive, with a 55.8% survival rate. 

CONCLUSION: In our hospital both the prematurity incidence of ≤1000g newborns and the survival rates for the cases that are admitted to the Intensive Neonatal Care Unit are equivalent to the one mentioned in the foreign literature.
